Getting to know Roman Udvornocky
“As someone who was born in a foreign country, I have a unique perspective of the ‘American dream’ of owning a home. It has always intrigued me that so many people in the U.S. can afford to buy a home. In my native country, Slovakia, not everyone has the opportunity to own a home. I feel privileged to be part of the American Dream and take my responsibility as a real estate agent seriously. It is very satisfying to help someone find a place to call ‘home.’

How does Roman find the perfect home for his clients?
Roman is friendly and uses his quiet, professional personality to find the best home to suit his clients’ needs. He monitors the entire housing market in Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort and surrounding areas so that he knows what homes are available on any given day. In addition, through key contacts, other real estate professionals, and a vast database of home and land listings, Roman is aware of real estate options throughout the Lowcountry.

"I recently went through the home buying process, and I know what it's like when you are trying to narrow your home search while keeping all of your options open.  I had a wonderful experience with the home I bought. Your Realtor can make or break your home buying experience. I liked the approach of my real estate agent and I decided that I would like to be part of the business so that I can help other people have a positive home buying experience similar to mine.”

What role does family play in buying a home?
“Generally, the needs of the family dictate what size, location, or style of home my clients purchase. No one wants a home that looks good on the outside but does not meet the needs of the family on the inside. Since the home is a place where you live day in and day out, it’s important that the house fit the family. The last thing you want to do is search for a home while thinking ‘will our family fit this house?’ No, the house must fit the family.

What you can expect from Roman as your real estate agent
“I spend time getting to know my clients. I communicate with my clients. I consider my clients to be my friends and treat them as such.” Roman takes time to meet with his clients and listen to them. Unlike many Realtors who will tell you what home you need to buy, Roman listens to his clients talk about the things that are most important to them in a new home. He gets to know his clients – their present situation as well as future goals and plans. This communication is vital in finding the right home for his clients. Because he gets to know his clients and communicates with them regularly, Roman considers them to be friends. “I take the time to talk with my clients and search for a home for them the same way that I would search for a home for a close friend. This mindset is what makes the difference in searching for just another house for an acquaintance versus passionately searching night and day for the perfect HOME for my friend.”

How important is communication in the home buying process?
“Since buying a home is one of the biggest events in most people’s lives (not to mention one of the biggest financial investments), communication is crucial. From the first meeting with my clients to the home closing, my clients will be informed and be part of the home buying experience at all times. I work for my clients; therefore, they deserve to know what is happening and the progress that I am making in finding their dream home every step of the way.”

Roman’s philosophy concerning home sales
“Buy the best home you can afford and still have lunch money left.”
